Peter Wynter Bee

Peter Wynter Bee
Chairman

Peter is a lawyer with significant experience in financing and managing mining companies. Following a period as a General Counsel at KPMG, he became General Counsel and a director of Reunion Mining plc which developed the Skorpion zinc mine in Namibia prior to its acquisition by Anglo-American. He then served as a director of ZincOx Resources plc which acquired and developed the Shaimerden deposit in Kazakhstan, prior to its acquisition by Glencore. Peter has raised capital for the development of projects since 1990. Successful projects include the development of a gold mine in Zambia, a copper mine in Zimbabwe and the Skorpion zinc mine. Peter is currently a non-executive director at Kavango Resources plc where he is chair of the audit committee.

Peter is a founding director of Moxico, becoming the chairman of its board of directors in 2015.

 
Alan Davies

Alan Davies
Chief Executive Officer and Director

Alan has extensive experience in running and leading mining businesses, most notably Rio Tinto as Chief Executive, Energy & Minerals in 2016 and Chief Executive, Diamonds & Minerals from 2012 to 2016. Alan has held management positions in Australia, London and the United States for Rio Tinto's Iron Ore and Energy businesses and has run and managed operations in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and North and South America. He was also previously chief financial officer of Rio Tinto's iron ore business. Alan was a non-executive director of Rolls Royce Holdings plc, the British aerospace engineering leader and is currently a non-executive director of Ioneer Limited, an emerging lithium-boron producer. Alan is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and has degrees in law and business.

Alan became the Chief Executive Officer of Moxico and joined its board of directors in March 2017.

 

Paul Thomson
Chief Financial Officer and Director

Paul has over 25 years of experience in the natural resources and mining industry as a financial adviser and chief financial officer of public and private mining companies. Paul is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and a Member of the Corporate Finance Faculty of ICAEW. His former roles include chief financial officer of Golden Star Resources until its takeover by Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining Company, Berkeley Energia and Aureus Mining. Prior to that, Paul was responsible for project financing, development and mergers and acquisitions activities within the M&A group at Kazakhmys, and was at EY. Paul was also previously a director of the World Gold Council.

Paul was appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Moxico in February 2022 and joined its board of directors in April 2022.  

 
Gautam Dalal

Gautam Dalal
Non-Executive Director

Gautam is a chartered accountant with over 30 years of experience with KPMG London, including as a partner between 1990 and 2010. He was responsible for the commencement of KPMG’s business in India where he was based from 1993 to 1997. Gautam returned to India in 2000 as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KPMG’s Indian operations, growing the business to more than 1,000 employees. In 2003, he relocated to the UK and in 2008 took over as KPMG’s Head of Diversified Industrials market sector where he was involved with delivering business change agenda in major multinational corporations. Gautam is currently a non-executive director of Hoptroff London Limited and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS FT. He was until recently a non-executive director and vice-chairman of the Bart’s Health NHS Trust and a non-executive director of Camellia plc. He was previously a director of ZincOx Resources plc. 

Gautam joined the board of Moxico as a non-executive director in February 2021 and is currently Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Nomination Committee and the Remuneration Committee.

 
Warren Gilman

Warren Gilman
Non-Executive Director

Warren is a mining engineer who has more than 30 years of experience as a deal maker in the metals and mining sector. Warren was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CEF Holdings Ltd, a mining-focused investment company jointly owned by CK Hutchison Holdings Ltd and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce from 2011 to 2019. He co-founded CIBC’s Global Mining Group in 1988 and during his 26 years at CIBC, he ran the mining investment banking teams in Canada, Australia and Asia, and served as Managing Director and Head of the Asia Pacific Region for 10 years, and latterly as Vice Chairman for CIBC World Markets. He has acted as adviser to the largest mining companies in the world including BHP, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Noranda, Falconbridge, Sumitomo Corp, China Minmetals, Jinchuan and Zijin, and was responsible for some of the largest equity capital markets financings in Canadian mining history. 

In 2020, Warren founded TSX-listed Queen’s Road Capital Investment Limited where he is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He is a board member of ASX, NYSE and TSX-listed NexGen Energy Ltd, TSX-listed Los Andes Copper Ltd, NYSE-listed Gold Royalty Corporation and LSE-listed ACG Acquisition Company Limited.

Warren joined the board of Moxico as a non-executive director in December 2021 and is currently Chair of the Nomination Committee and the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Audit Committee.
